Truth
I need a hug today
no words today
something
easy as silence
steady
and sure
as
flesh
upon
flesh
I’ve been carrying
this heavy burden
and though
it’s mine to bear
I wonder
can you hold it for
a minute?
draw me close
to absorb
the sob and shake
hum me to
stillness
’cause past
this exterior
there’s a little girl
that lives in
a space carved
for forgotten
dreams
who sees life as simple
as three little words
I
and
you
and our everything
in between
call it love
call it friendship
call it by any name
but it’s
only name
is
truth
But there’s no
room for her
here
Things are
not so simple
And words
do not only exist
to uplift and bless
there are
other words
wielded with precision
aimed to kill
people don’t always
say what they mean
and even less
do they
mean what they say
and this heart
breaks too
easy and too often
if you stood
still and quiet
you could almost
hear it shatter
heat up and melt
form into something
cold and hard
trap her further inside
So I need a touch
today
something that
snatches me from this
melancholy
I need to hear the
beating of another
heart
today
feel the warmth
of another breath
to carry me
through
this dark place
that i’ve entered
remind me that
that girl still exists
and that there
is always truth
if you are
silent enough
to hear it
